In continuation of FAQ series on the subject matter of "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗣 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 - 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱", here is the fourteenth question is answered below in the series. 

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮:

𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱: A trademark registration in India is valid for years from the date of registration.

𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: It can be renewed indefinitely.

𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀:

 • An application for renewal must be filed 6 months before the expiry 

  date using the prescribed form.

 • A grace period of an additional 6 months is allowed after expiry, 

  subject to payment of late fees.

 • Renewal Fees: The fees vary based on the entity type, typically

 ranging from INR 10,000 to INR 25,000}

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆):

 • Unlike patents (which have fixed terms), trademarks can offer 

 perpetual protection.

 • This is maintained as long as the mark is renewed timely and is 

 continuously used in commerce.

𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

 • The mark must be in continuous use.

 • Non-use for a period of 5 years or more can lead to the removal of 

 the trademark from the register for non-use.

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: To maintain protection, the owner must:

 • Keep records of the mark's usage.

 • File renewals on time.
